About this Samaria guide

We explain the practical choices behind a Samaria visit: which end to start from, what the walk involves and how to get back afterwards. This is an independent visitor guide, separate from NECCA, the park ticket office and transport companies.

How the information is checked

Entrance notices come from NECCA. Ferry and bus details belong to the operators. Geological explanations use named scientific publications, while heritage accounts use public cultural bodies and clearly identified archives. A dated observation is not a promise that a service or entrance will be available on a later day.

We distinguish the gorge path, the controlled park exit, the coastal village and the boat boarding point. That distinction matters more to a workable day than an undated claim that the walk is easy.

Photographs and diagrams

Named places use real photographs with source and licence credits. Generic planning scenes are labelled in captions. Route schematics explain the order of places; they are not scaled navigation maps or evidence of current trail conditions.
