A future date is not confirmed by this observation. Read NECCA's latest notice before travel.
Xyloskalo
Last observation: Closed pending inspections.
Reopening: No date stated in the checked notice.
Present permission: Recheck with NECCA, especially if this record is older than 24 hours.
Agia Roumeli
Last observation: Closed pending inspections.
Reopening: No date stated in the checked notice.
Present permission: Recheck with NECCA. A partial southern walk is not an exception to a both-entrances closure.
Read the official NECCA notice
The observation has no stated source publication time or reopening date. A check expires for freshness after 24 hours; that never turns a closed entrance into an open one.

Is Samaria Gorge open? The last checked NECCA notice reported both entrances closed pending inspections, with no reopening date. That record was checked on 15 October 2026. It is not a live status feed or proof for a future visit. Read the official portal again before travelling for the walk.
The saved notice covers Xyloskalo in the north and Agia Roumeli in the south. It does not describe a southern partial-walk exception. A normal visiting season, a sunny forecast or a tour for sale cannot prove entry is allowed. A check older than 24 hours needs renewal, and an expired closure record never means the gorge has reopened.
Is Samaria Gorge open on your date?
Use NECCA's official ticket portal for the current notice. Its checked statement says reopening will follow inspections and a further announcement. It does not give a date that this guide can turn into an opening prediction.
The entrance reference above keeps the last record beside your selected date. Choosing a date does not query NECCA or grant entry. If the park body has not covered that date, leave the plan unresolved until a current notice does.
Is Samaria Gorge open from the south?
The saved record is closed for both named entrances. Do not apply a north-side statement to the south unless the notice covers it. In this case it explicitly covers both, so a shorter visit from Agia Roumeli is not a way around it.
Check the source again close to departure and follow staff at the entrance. A saved ticket or proof from another provider does not overrule a current limit.
A season and its hours do not grant entry
The portal's General Description panel outlines a possible visiting period from 10 April to 31 October. It says the exact opening date is decided after the required annual work and operating conditions are met. That broad period is not a daily open calendar.
Its general hours distinguish full or partial visits from later limited walks at each entrance. Those rules apply only when access is allowed. Read the current notice first, then the hours and route extent that apply to the visit you intend.
An April date therefore needs that year's opening decision. An October date can still be affected by a closure. A November trip should not be inferred from a previous late extension or a tour listing. Use the actual park body rule for the date and entrance.
Compare the calendar with the entry notice
| Record | What it can tell you | What it cannot prove |
|---|---|---|
| General season | The broad period when the park may admit visitors | That a particular day is open |
| General hours | The normal time and route limits when operating | An exception to a current closure |
| Entrance notice | The named entrances and stated limits in that notice | A reopening date the source does not give |
| Ticket or tour listing | A sales route or booked service | The right to pass a closed park entrance |

If a closure affects your plan
Read the terms of separately booked transport and rooms. A closure notice does not by itself determine every provider's refund rule. Ask the actual organiser what happens to a package, and each separate carrier about its own ticket.
Use the hike guide to compare the route choices when entry is allowed. The difficulty guide explains the walking demands. Neither a changed date nor a shorter route removes the need for a current access check.
Source and update history
The record on this page comes from the NECCA ticket portal, checked 15 October 2026 in the Europe/Athens time zone. The source notice supplies no posting time or reopening date. Its scope is both entrances. No reopening event has been inferred.
This is a saved source check, not a promise of constant checks. If the source cannot be read, current access remains unresolved while the last record stays labelled. Corrections should identify the official notice and affected entrance.
Entrance questions
Does a usual season prove the park is open?
No. A seasonal period describes when visits may be possible under the general rules. The park body can delay opening or restrict access within it. Read the latest notice for your entrance before travel, then check the hours and route extent that apply. An old season description is not proof that entry is allowed today.
Can a southern partial visit proceed during this notice?
The saved notice covers both entrances. It does not state a partial-walk exception from Agia Roumeli. Use any later official rule for that entrance rather than an older tourism account. A boat serving the coastal village does not grant the right to enter the controlled gorge route.
Does an expired record mean reopening?
No. It means the source check needs renewal. The previous closure remains a labelled past record until a newer source is read. A future date selected in the reference cannot prove access by itself. Only the current park body rule and entrance staff can settle the allowed visit.
Verdict on whether Samaria Gorge is open
Is Samaria Gorge open? The last checked statement says both entrances are closed, with no date for entry to resume. Recheck NECCA before travel and leave a future visit unresolved until the park body covers it. Do not turn a usual season or an old closure's age into an opening claim.
